"Just a few weeks ago, however, we made the decision to include gas engine trucks in the mix. The thought behind this is 3/4-and 1-ton trucks are serious trucks, and the owners don't really care all that much if the powerplant is diesel or gas. It's the truck that matters."
p. 9, The Garage, June 2009 issue.
What do you guys think?

Yeah, that's a good plan. I would also encourage the heavy duty van guys with 2WD or 4WD to offer up their rides.

Okay, I'm going to slaughter a bunch of sacred cows right now with this statement. There are way too many magazines on the market right now. Okay, I said it. The problem is, for many years, the name of the game was carving a narrower and narrower niche for yourself, and being the biggest player in a small niche. But with the advent of the web, and CPM-based advertising, all of a sudden, the game became all about quantity. So...now, it's all about creating broader, mass-market appeal.
I honestly think the ultimate determining factor will be quality of content. Admittedly it's a tough balancing act between quality and quantity. And there will be some casualties in the fight for survival in enthusiast media. Hopefully 8-Lug survives.

You make some good points. And...when 8-Lug includes Heavy Duty gas trucks, that makes it different than Diesel Power, Diesel World, Diesel Tech and Diesel Builder. We can bring in readers that they can't. Simple.

I don't mind the gas trucks so much, I still prefer diesel. In the end though many of the ideas and some tech can go both ways, and these vehicles are the pride and joy of their owners. Why not show off what people can do with their trucks, as long as we still get an even balance, and some outrageous trucks. I'm good with it
