Coming back from the weekend in the desert pulling the small toyhauler, I would have loved to have traded the underpowered 4.6L V-8 in the (Ford) van when it finally got to 4000 feet elevation on a detour through Phelan. I understand the 2010 light duty diesel engines from GM and Ford are both making nearly 800 ft-lb at torque peak. What a difference that would make for this rig!

The 2010 certification permits these engines to be sold in vehicles in the 50 states. The U.S. emissions laws have changed for 2010, so the engines have been calibrated to meet those new lower emissions. And with the emissions hardware in place, and ratings established, I'm very interested in what happens in the aftermarket to support further increases in available torque, i.e. transmission, coolant system and rear axle upgrades.
